Emily and Tom have the most beautiful family! I’ve known them a few years now and first met when Tom booked Emily a surprise photography one-to-one workshop with me. So it was amazing to be invited to capture them all as a family together in the stunning Norfolk countryside this spring. We played in the wheat fields, walked through meadows and blew dandelions in the gorgeous sunset.
Sometimes there are just no words…babies are just the most beautiful little people. You sit and wonder at the experiences and adventures they’ll have, what they’ll look like as an adult, who they’ll become. The whole world at their finger tips. So to capture this time is honestly so precious, and I adore it as a photographer. Meet baby Jacob.
Earlier in the year I photographed this lovely family in a beautiful private garden of a stately home in the Norfolk countryside. The blossom was still on the trees, the air was still and warm (do you remember those amazingly out of the blue hot days last May?!) and their little girl was simply adorable <3
James contacted me last Christmas, keen to book a photo shoot in with his fun loving family - so we scheduled in for the spring, hoping to get some warm weather! I honestly laughed so much through this session - from the giant bottle of Tabasco sauce sitting proudly on the table through family stories and piggy back rides in the garden!
I first met Gemma when I was studying Animal Science way back as a 16 year old after high school. And as time passed we sadly lost touch, but through the magic of Facebook we managed to reconnect and she introduced me to her wonderful parents and family! So when her lovely mum Elaine invited me to photograph them all at home this spring I was incredibly excited! With all the grandchildren together they had fun in the garden in the May sunshine...
I've followed and photographed Bobbie and her beautiful family through so many amazing times in their lives - through the preparations and after the birth of her baby girl, celebrating milestones and each year as a family together. This year we decided to go to the beach for some fun in the sea, playing in the sand and generally having an amazing time together on a sunny Sunday morning this spring. I'll never forget this particular session - having arrived at Brancaster I was told that the beach road was flooded and cars were not able to get to the car park - disaster! But, as I thought about what to do I remembered how light I like to travel so parked up in the village, grabbed my cameras and strap and set off on foot! I'm so thankful it was warm and sunny as I waded through the water, cameras held high above my head! Love these adventures!
Terri is my oldest and dearest friend - we've known each other since our teens when we met working in Tesco coffee shop in Ely, Cambridgeshire at the tender age of just 17. Even though we've often been opposite ends of the country due to work and university we've always stayed friends. I visited them at their home last month to meet their brand new baby boy Benjamin - the most adorable little thing you've ever seen (and yes I did steal a few cuddles!) It was a real honour to photograph them as a brand new family and to catch up and reminisce over the fun we used to have!
Lucy and Nathan invited me to photograph their gorgeous family and new baby girl last month at their home in Cambridgeshire. As you can probably guess newborn photography has a special place in my heart so this was super special! I met them at their home for some adventures, snuggles, tickles with big sis and a lovely late afternoon walk near the river...
Kiri and Daniel are getting married this month in beautiful Italy and contacted me to see if I'd be available to photograph their English reception next month. Of course I immediately jumped at the opportunity! Before their big day arrives though we decided to meet up so we could get to know each other and grab some pre-wedding photos!
So I headed off to High Lodge in Thetford Forest to meet Kiri, Daniel and their beautiful children for a wander in the warm spring sunshine to chat about their exciting plans...
When the leaves start turning golden and red the woods become a favourite place for family photos. I try to avoid the woods during the summer months as they can be dark and make people look a bit green! But the autumn is perfect. There's so much to do - leaf fights, tree climbing (safely of course!) looking for mushrooms and bugs...the list is endless. I met a couple of families at Knettishall Heath and Bacton Woods last November for some fun family photos!
As a child, growing up in Cambridgeshire, the closest seaside to us was Hunstanton on the Norfolk coast. We used to paddle, skim stones, build sandcastles and run around the beach huts all summer and winter long. So whenever a client asks me to photograph their happy times there I always jump at the chance. I've photographed this amazing family a few times now and we meet up each autumn/winter to capture some new memories. Mum is expecting their second baby so it was extra special to capture the last few months of them all as a family of three before their new bundle arrives in 2017.
So many people I chat to about family photos and the work I do tell me a similar thing: "Your client's homes are amazing! Mine is so cluttered/boring/dark! I could never have our portraits taken there." I want to promise you this - all the photos you see that have been taken either in my home or in my clients' are real! We have toys out. The washing up is still in the sink.
